Lilywhites boss Alex Neil said: “I think Millwall are a cagey team.

“First of all they don’t want to lose and they are defensively very solid.

“They are aggressive from set-pieces, good in transition and on the counter-attack, that is where a lot of their goals come from.

“Gary has made some good signings, he has added quality in terms of Scott Malone, George Evans, Ryan Woods, guys who are technically good players.

"He has tried put his imprint on the team but he has still got that solidity and aggressiveness you expect from a Millwall team.”

The Lions were beaten 2-1 at Barnsley on Saturday - Mason Bennet on target with their goal - but before that had been in decent form.

From the end of January they had drawn three on the bounce then won three on the spin.

Then came two more draws before the setback against Barnsley.

When North End and Millwall met in the reverse fixture at Deepdale in October, the South London outfit won 2-0 with goals from Kenneth Zohere and Jed Wallace (pen).

Wallace is their leading scorer with seven goals in the Championship.
