Preston defender Darnell Fisher has learned his lesson after being banned for grabbing opponent's genitals

The Preston full-back was banned for grabbing an opponent’s genitals by the Football Association.

Fisher was found guilty of violent conduct by an independent regulatory commission in relation to an incident involving Callum Paterson during the Championship match against Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale in November.

Having missed a number of games already during the early part of this season, the 26-year-old admitted he had learned his lesson after the indiscretion saw him miss the games at Watford and Bournemouth and the home clash with Wycombe.

When asked if incidents like that were common place in the game, Fisher said: "More than what anybody thinks, but the camera picked it up and obviously it went viral.

"It does happen a lot.

"It got too much attention for my liking. To be fair, everybody in football will say it happens.

"Players were supportive, even those who I have played against, they said how did you get banned for that.

"I just had to take it and go with it.

"I got a bit of stick from everywhere. People who I played with from years ago were messaging me.

"To be fair, it was more having a laugh about it but I wasn't laughing about it as I got banned for it."

In answer to whether he would repeat the act, Fisher replied: "Definitely not!"
