Preston North End manager Alex Neil was very satisfied with his side's performance in their draw with Premier League outfit West Ham United.

Goals from Tom Clarke and Billy Bodin helped the Lilywhites to a 2-2 draw, with them twice coming from behind to get a share of the spoils in the Deepdale friendly.

Marko Arnautovic netted both goals for the Hammers who later missed a penalty when Chris Maxwll saved Mark Noble's spot kick.

Neil said: "On the balance of play I thought we had the better chances.

"What you notice when you play a Premier League side is their real quality and when we switched off twice in the first half they scored their two goals.

"They were two poor goals were our point of view but good ones from West Ham's point of view.

"In the second half I thought we were much more in control of the match, pinning them back for long spells.

"The goal we had disallowed in the second half when Tom Clarke was ruled offside was apparently two or three yards onside.

"We scored two other goals, the second one from Billy Bodin was sensational with the way he let it come over his shoulder and brought it down.

"Billy had another chance after that which he perhaps should have done better with.

"Before this game we had scored 18 goals in three matches and today we got two more.

We aren't struggling for chances which is good."

Neil allayed fears about injuries to Ben Pearson and Tom Barkhuizen, both of who went off during the game.

Pearson departed after 20 minutes after taking a blow in the ribs while Barkhuizen got caught with a tackle.

"Ben was winded and struggling a bit so we took him off," said Neil.

"He should be okay, it was just taking him time to get his breath.

"Tom got a knock when two players went into him from each side, it's a case of letting that settle down."
