After falling behind to Lyndon Dykes' 17th minute goal, North End drew level through Emil Riis.
Josh Earl then put the visitors ahead just 57 seconds after half-time, only for the Londoners to score twice in four minutes through Jimmy Dunne and Ilias Chair.
Here are the PNE player ratings from the Championship clash, with Sean Maguire the pick of the bunch.
5. Sepp van den Berg 6
Had a hand in PNE's second goal, got to grips more with Willock after an uncertain first half hour. Photo: Rob Newell/Camerasport
6. Ali McCann 6
So unfortunate to get injured early in his first Championship start. Had showed a couple of nice touches before it. Photo: Rob Newell/Camerasport
7. Ryan Ledson 7
One of OPNE's better performers, competed well in midfield, passed the ball quite well and had a hand in the second goal. Photo: Rob Newell/Camerasport
8. Josh Earl 7
The wing-back scored his first goal in senior football to put PNE 2-1 up. Worked hard down the left. A real plus this season. Photo: Rob Newell/Camerasport
