Preston had an afternoon to forget on Gentry Day at the Hawthorns
Here are the PNE player ratings from the 4-1 defeat.
PNE's starman. Made half-a-dozen saves to prevent WBA running-up a bigger margin of victory. Not a lot got down his side of the pitch, with the hosts tending to go down the left. Linked well with Nmecha at times in the second half. Had his hands full with the hosts attack and it wasnt the best of days for the North End back line in general. Caught out by Brunts ball into the box for the first goal, allowing Gayle to spin off him. A rare off day. It was his square ball inside which gifted West Brom their second goal he had done the hard work in winning the ball in the first place. No issues with his display in the holding role, put in a decent shift on a day when North End were well below their best. One of the brighter sparks in the team, carried a threat down the right-wing and set up the late goal for Robinson. Doesnt look fully fit after his recent return from an ankle injury. Had a couple of half chances in the second half. Struggling for form at the minute and his passing range has deserted him lately. Confidence seems a touch low. Forced out of the action before half-time after taking a nasty rap across the shins. Tried to carry on but couldnt. Found it hard going against Albions trio of central defenders and was substituted at the interval. Replaced Gallagher late in the first half and made an impact. Looked lively and scored. Half-time sub for Stockley in an attempt to give PNE more agility up front. Maguire worked hard. The winger came on for his debut late in the game after a patient three-month wait.
