It was a great afternoon for Preston as they put their first points of the season on the board at Deepdale on Saturday.
Here are the PNE player ratings.
The goalkeeper made two saves in the space of a couple of minutes with the score at 1-0. An extremely impressive performance with further saves later on. A more natural fit than Tom Clarke at right-back, Fisher put in a very decent shift before fatigue forced his substitution. Pretty solid in keeping Joe Garner and then sub Kieffer Moore quiet, although one stray clearance attempt presented Josh Windass with a shooting chance. Assured at the back, dealt with what Wigan had to offer up front. Had calmness on the ball to look to play out from the back. Strong performance down the left, got forward well to link with Sean Maguire, especially in the first half. Helped Preston hold control in the middle of the pitch and used the ball well. Won the ball in the challenge which led to a yellow card. An excellent 68 minutes, spraying the ball around and what a goal to put PNE 3-0 up! He keeps on producing the goods. Settled well into the game and had a knack of finding space behind the Wigan left-back to cause them problems.First start at Deepdale in the Championship since May 2018. Excelled in the advanced midfield role behind the striker, in the first half especially he found space with ease in which to operate. The Irishman gave PNE an early lead with a header and the wider role allowed him to see a lot more of the ball. King Louis worked his socks off up front and his goal was richly deserved. Showed superbly how to hold the ball up and let others work from him. Replaced Paul Gallagher in the 68th minute and helped PNE see out the game well. The PNE skipper put in two or three good tackles after coming on for Darnell Fisher with 16 minutes left. The big striker was a 78th-minute replacement for Louis Moult and was the target for PNE to aim for late on.
