Liam Palmers second goal in a decade saw the Owls home by the narrowest of margins.
Here's how the players fared on the day...
.
Preston players warming up.
. Daniel Iversen - 6
Did what he had to do on the day, which wasn't a lot. Made a good save from Bannan from range but also looked a bit shaky with his kicking at times.
. Alan Browne - 7
Another solid display at right back, will grow more into the role as the season progresses. Moved into midfield towards the end too and did so manfully.
. Paul Huntington - 7
Did what he does, a wall at the back for PNE. Twice towards the end of the game he was left one on one with a striker and perfectly timed his tackle.
. Ben Davies - 7
It looks like we'll get six more months of one of the best defenders PNE have had this century. Another top quality display from the academy graduate, but it's no surprise.
. Andrew Hughes - 6
A decent display down the left side of the defence but was forced off due to injury. Could have done more to push PNE forward at times, takes easy options rather than trying to go round the outside.
. Ben Whiteman - 6
Not quite to the standard he'd set in recent weeks but readily available and very tidy in possession. Had the best chance of the game and should have done better from 12 yards out.
