Tom Bayliss and Liam Lindsay scored North End's goals in the 2-1 win, their fourth victory on the bounce.
They had fallen behind in the first half to a superb shot from James Garner but showed their character to fight back to get the three points.
Victory saw PNE finish 13th place in the table with 61 points, sending them on their holidays in a positive frame of mind.
Here are the Preston player ratings from the clash with Chris Hughton's men.
5. Sepp van den Berg 6
Got forward in the first half but a couple of times seemed reluctant to cross the ball. Up against a tricky customer in Krovinovic. Photo: Camerasport
6. Tom Bayliss 7
Only the midfielder's second league start of the season and made an impact, scoring the first and putting over the cross for the second. Photo: Camerasport
7. Alan Browne 6
Wasn't able to get forward as much as he would have liked, at times playing slightly deeper. Worked hard. Photo: Camerasport
8. Ryan Ledson 8
Produced a fine pass in the build-up to the equaliser and his work rate was something else. Subbed after picking up a yellow card. Photo: Camerasport
