“I understand” - Paul Heckingbottom on Preston North End fans’ chants and boos after loss to Lincoln City
The PNE boss is under pressure.
Preston North End boss Paul Heckingbottom has reacted to supporters booing and chanting after their 1-0 loss to Lincoln City.

In the final moments of the game, and after full time, fans were heard voicing their anger at yet another loss and chanting for Heckingbottom to be sacked.
This defeat was PNE’s sixth in seven games and they sit second from bottom in the Championship.
Heckingbottom said he accepted the ‘noise’ after the final whistle.
“Yes, I understand,” he said, “you can't hide away from it.
“As I say, it's a results business. There's only one way to stop it and that's to win the games.
“We've sort of got to look beyond that and see what can we control, what can we do well.
“There's good bits from that game that we did well, and we matched [Lincoln’s] desire in key moments, but they were really effective, or more effective.”
He added: “Ultimately, it always comes down to those moments and if you win the games, it takes the noise away, not the performance.”
Asked about winning supporters back, Heckingbottom said: “There’s one way to do it: win. That's it.
“When you're doing this job, you understand that. I'm not one who gets carried away talking about philosophy, styles of play and tries to hide behind that.
“You've got to try and win games, that's it.”
He added: “We watch the games and despite the improvements in performances and [the fact] we’ve signed players, we know we drop below standards individually, collectively, and performances on the pitch.
“We know there's three or four players who can perform a hell of a lot more. We know that but we have to help them do that, definitely. And you can only do that as a group.”
