One down one to go for PNE with Manchester United man next up after Tottenham starlet secured

It is a case of one down and one to go for Preston North End after announcing the signing of Troy Parrott on a season long loan deal.

He is the first of two expected to join North End, with Alvaro Fernandez expected to be announced shortly.

Parrot joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, fresh from signing a new long term contract with the London club, and was a man PNE manager Ryan Lowe has been tracking for a bit of time.

He adds much needed reinforcements in the forward area and is a slightly different option to Ched Evans and Emil Riis who are the only two strikers fit at the moment. Ben Woodburn could also play up top but is more preferred in a deeper role.

It is expected that Fernandez will be the second Premier League loan in as many days for North End, after he was seen at Deepdale on Saturday.

Parrott was seen during Monday’s open training session sorting out his contract before his announcement and Man United man Fernandez was also in attendance.

The Spaniard is very highly rated at Old Trafford, the 19-year-old moving to the North West from Real Madrid.

Lowe spoke about him after the game on Saturday and admitted a deal was not yet done at that point, but they wanted to show him around his potential new surroundings and show him what North End were like – which seems to have worked.

Like Parrott, there has been other interest in the left back but Preston look well placed to seal a deal.

It would be some quick progress in the transfer market from PNE who are still in need of two more bodies beyond the two loan players.

It would mean however that the left side of the pitch is sorted, with Robbie Brady and Fernandez providing the width down that side.

A right wing back is still also on the cards, as is another striker.

PNE have been linked with former forward Callum Robinson in recent weeks but there looks to have been no progress on that front with the Baggies still holding out for more than the Lilywhites are prepared to pay.
