Joe Savage leaves his job as Preston North End's head of recruitment

Preston North End's head of recruitment/chief scout Joe Savage is leaving Deepdale to take up a new job.

Savage joined PNE in July 2017 following Alex Neil's arrival as manager - they had previously worked together at Norwich City and Hamilton Academical.

It is understood that his new job will be in Scotland, starting in the new year.

A statement from North End read: "Preston North End Football Club can confirm that Joe Savage who joined as Head of Recruitment/Chief Scout in the summer of 2017, will be leaving the club to take up an exciting new challenge elsewhere which will be the subject of a further press release from his new employer.

"Whilst Joe will be leaving officially on 3rd January 2021, he will not be working with us during the intervening period.

"To this end, all player enquiries should be addressed to Peter Ridsdale at Preston North End until further notice.

"Joe leaves us with our thanks and best wishes and we wish him every success in the future."

North End will seek to replace 36-year-old Savage who played for East Stirling, Berwick, Arbroath and Stenhousemuir during his playing career, before linking-up with Neil at Hamilton.

In November 2019, Savage was linked with a sporting director type role at Southampton.
