The Lilywhites were the better side over the course of the game and can count themselves unfortunate not to have taken all three points.
Cameron Archer had their best chance to break the deadlock when put clear by Brad Potts' pass but the Aston Villa loanee fired the wrong side of the post.
Here are the PNE player ratings from the game, with Brad Potts our man of the match.
Andrew Hughes and Liam Lindsay also caught the eye as North End kept a sixth clean sheet in eight matches.
9. Andrew Hughes 8
Another strong display from PNE's Mr Consistent. The Welshman started in the left wing-back role and switched inside when Bauer came off. He went close with two chances in the first half. Photo: Mick Walker/Camerasport
10. Cameron Archer 7
He should have been the match winner but put a great chance wide in the second half. Archer was lively throughout, always looking for the ball. Photo: Mick Walker/Camerasport
11. Ched Evans 7
He worked his socks off up front, acting as the link-man and foil for Archer. Full of running and he saw a shot go just over in the first half. Photo: Mick Walker/Camerasport
12. Josh Earl 6
Joined the action early in the second half to replace the injured Bauer. Played at left wing-back and looked a bit more confident going forward than of late. Photo: Mick Walker/Camerasport
