FOUR talking points from Preston North End’s victory at Huddersfield Town

Frazier Campbell put the home side ahead early on but two goals in as many minutes from Alan Browne saw PNE take the points.
TOM SANDELLS goes through four talking points from the victory.
1. Happy travels.

Hide AdThanks to the pair from Browne, North End will continue to be the best away side in the division.
On a rainy day in Yorkshire it was the skipper, playing at right wing-back, that made the difference in the end.
PNE didn’t start the game well but their patience was rewarded, they got themselves settled into the game – and their 3-5-2 formation – and took control.
There was only going to be one winner once the Lilywhites got to grips with the contest and they looked a threat.

Hide AdAn interesting test will now be two home games in a row, first with Millwall in the week then Birmingham on Saturday.
2. Climbing the table.
PNE rose four places after their win over the Terriers, one place from their spiritual home of 11th that was once joked about.
The main thing though is getting up some momentum.
Alex Neil’s side took the game to Huddersfield and pressed hard.
The also had to cope with being second best early on and for the last half-an-hour os so dug in to protect their lead.

Those are all points that will be noted within the camp and will only give them confidence moving into the continued busy schedule.
3. No Pearo, no problem.
North End have been without their talisman Ben Pearson for the last two games now and a compliment to his team-mates is that they haven’t yet missed him.
That takes nothing away from his quality or is intended to disrespect those that come in for him, but he is undeniably one of the best in the division.

It speaks volumes for the strength of the North End squad and how much the supporting cast have stepped up of late.
With those two to come back and Preston in good form, it’s a promising sign for sure.
4. A matter of time.
The only criticism you can have of Emil Riis’ impressive start in a Preston shirt is that he hasn’t yet found the net.

Once again he was a threat for the Lilywhites, going through on goal and stopped only by an excellent last-ditch tackle.
Later on in the game it looked like it was men against boys as he seemed to be content keeping the ball high up the pitch before chopping past the hapless Huddersfield defence and crashing his strike off the underside of the bar.
Not to mention that it was his run that saw Naby Sarr bring him down and get his marching orders.
He’s been exactly what Alex Neil has been crying out for, an excellent find and an exciting prospect.
