Ex-QPR man new favourite for Preston North End manager's job, Everton could lose striker chase

Preston North End are back in action this afternoon, when they take on red-hot table-toppers Norwich City in a Good Friday clash at Deepdale.

The Lilywhites will need to show a remarkable improvement if they're to secure a positive result against the Premier League-bound Canaries, following a dismal run of form that ultimately led to Alex Neil's sacking.

Speaking to the Lancashire Post ahead of the game, striker Ched Evans revealed: "The manager going was a shock, especially as he was the one who brought me in. I was gutted.

“With the backroom staff staying, it’s not been as much of a shake-up as can sometimes happen. We’ve got eight games to go, eight games to get some more points on the board.

“We need to be sticking the ball in the net, we need to be more solid at the back. The manager did his utmost to make that happen but ultimately it came down to how we did it on the pitch.”

As things stand, Preston are a solid nine points clear of the relegation, but they will be mindful that a few poor results could leave them in trouble, given the ever-unpredictable nature of the second tier.
