Ryan Lowe has spoken on the possibility of a new signing arriving at Preston North End before the weekend.
The Lilywhites boss has already brought in goalkeeping duo Freddie Woodman and David Cornell, while Tom Bayliss and Josh Earl have both left the club this week.
With the pre-season campaign kicking off this weekend, Lowe is positive about adding to his ranks before the team return to action.
He told the Lancashire Post: “We’ve been close, we’ve been down the lines. We’ve certainly had targets and contract proposals out there.
“What I don’t want to do is sometimes I dwell on them in terms of making sure it’s the right one and character references as well.
“They could be the best players inside or outside of the division but you’ve got to make sure their character is the right fit. We have to make sure that element is right.
“Could something happen over the next few days? Possibly, yeah.
“I could go away at any point and the phone has rung. We’ve certainly got some irons in the fire and some good quality players.”
