Alex Neil’s men turned in an eye-catching performance in midweek to comprehensively beat league leaders Reading.

That result made it three wins in their last five outings for the Lilywhites, and ensured that they stayed within four points of the play-off places.

For their part, the Millers lost 1-0 to Luton Town, and are currently 19th in the table, two points clear of the drop zone.

But Prutton is pessimistic about their prospects of getting anything out of Saturday’s match-up.

Writing for Sky Sports, the pundit predicted a 2-0 win for North End.

Preston have struggled to beat Rotherham in recent times, and haven’t recorded a win against this weekend’s opponents since November 2016.

The three games since have seen two draws and a win for United, with the Millers taking four points from Saturday’s visitors last time they were in the Championship in the 2018/19.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 2-1 win for Rotherham, with Will Vaulks and Michael Miller scoring the decisive goals before Luke Nmecha bagged a consolation goal for Preston.

United have won just twice in the league all season, and have taken all three points on only one occasion in their last five outings.

By contrast, the Lilywhites have begun to pick up the pace after a slow start to the campaign, and have taken nine points from their last five games after taking four from their first five encounters.
