Preston North End's average away Championship attendance compared to Plymouth Argyle, Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, and Swansea City

Here's how a Championship away attendance table stands after nine games so far.

The Championship is currently on pause as we enter the second international break of the 2024/25 season.

Players have jetted off to various destinations as they prepare for a period where international football takes priority. In Europe, it's all about the Nations League. England, Northern Ireland, Wales are all vying for promotion, whilst Scotland and the Republic of Ireland are bidding to avoid the drop.

Preston North End entered the break with a goalless draw against Burnley. Paul Heckingbottom's men are two points above the relegation zone with nine games played. In just three games time, and that will come fast with a double game week to come when the international break is over, will be the quarter of the way of the season.

In their last away match, they took 2,271 fans to Turf Moor. The allocations that Burnley gave wasn’t too bad, but when you look at the 5,718 Blackburn Rovers supporters that descended to Deepdale for one of the other Lancashire Derbies, there’s a big contrast.

Supporters like to boast their club is the biggest and the best, but there’s plenty of ways they can plead their case. The season is almost a quarter of the way through and for some clubs, their most local away games are now out of the way, and they might have to travel a few hundred miles for a midweek fixture that might not boast the turnout.

For some teams, there’s no excuses, and they expect to sell out or at least pack out away ends when they travel. Leeds United are perhaps one of those teams, as they have supporters everywhere in England, because of their success in the 1970s.

Thanks to the information collated by websites Football Fan Banter, and The 72, we can look at the level of away support of all 24 teams. Here's how PNE fare against the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Blackburn Rovers, Millwall and Swansea City.
