Potter brings his Albion squad to Lancashire in good shape on the back of two victories – 3-0 at Newcastle on Sunday and 4-0 against Portsmouth last Thursday.

He fielded two different XIs in those games and in all likelihood Alex Neil’s men will face a similar side to the one which beat Portsmouth.

Potter said: “We will have a strong team and a team that hopefully wins the game. We are playing against a good team. I know Alex’s teams well.

“We played against him at Swansea and I’ve got respect for him. He gets his teams organised really well. They are aggressive, they play on the front foot, play really good football – strong, physical.

“They will be a good test for us.”

North End boss Neil says he will have to have a couple of options up his sleeve in terms of how to deal with Brighton.

Neil said: “They are really quite flexible with how they play.

“Brighton have a couple of systems which they turn to quite regularly.

“It will be difficult to guess which one they will use but we have to be ready for what they do.

“We have to make sure we put in a good performance.”
