American striker looks beyond reach for Preston North End
Preston North End look to have been priced out of their pursuit of Seattle Sounders striker Jordan Morris.
The Lilywhites had shown an interest in the 25-year-old who has played 39 times for the United States.
They used a New Jersey-based intermediary to make contact with Seattle and the MLS, but the price Seattle quoted to sell him was well beyond North End.
Morris had come on North End's radar after scoring seven goals in 10 appearances for Seattle this year and 10 goals in 26 games in 2019.
They are looking at different markets in a bid to unearth a striker within their budget, something have struggled to do so far in this transfer window.
Any deal involving players from abroad would have to be completed by Monday night when the international transfer window shuts.
A domestic transfer window will remain open beyond that until Friday, October 16, allowing deals to be done between clubs in the EFL and Premier League.
