The weekend’s three-day event began with a friendly against Fleetwood Town, before a youth competition on Saturday was followed by a mini-tournament.

That saw Town’s new veterans team face legends outfits from PNE and Kendal Town.

Paul McKenna, Graeme Atkinson, Andy Fensome, Brett Ormerod, Simon Farnworth and current Longridge boss Lee Ashcroft were among the ex-North End players to play.

Live music also added to the family-friendly event which could be staged again next year.

A club spokesman said: “After a great weekend and numerous sore heads, we would like to thank all that attended this great weekend.

“We would like to thank all the support received for our first beer and football festival.

“A huge effort went into planning the event and happily the event was a massive success.

“We would like to thank Fleetwood Town for providing a team for the pre-season friendly that opened our festival.

“We’d also like to express our thanks to the Junior Committee for organising a brilliant Youth competition.

“Our thanks goes to the PNE Legends and Kendal Town Legends who came to support our very own Longridge Town veterans in a mini-tournament.

“We thank all our volunteers that aided our successful weekend, as well as The Versions and David Despard for providing the musical entertainment.”
