Tom Barkhuizen scored in the 95th minute to cancel out Matej Vydra’s goal shortly after the interval in the 1-1 draw at Pride Park - a result that does little to help the play-off hopes of either side.

“We didn’t really ask questions too much in the period after their goal, we played too much in front of them,” said Grayson.

“A few were just running on empty, whether that’s the game on Saturday or the 30 that have come before that.

“Gally (Paul Gallagher) showed his quality but then probably ran out out steam having not played for a few weeks.

“But the substitutions made a difference and a real impact and when we were that bit more direct we looked like we were going to get opportunities.

“You know DJ (Daniel Johnson) is going to get on the ball and give you that energy, Daryl Horgan affected the game and was probably very unlucky not to start.

“We got something out of it in the end which I think we deserved.”
