Morecambe manager: Draw was another point in the right direction

Morecambe boss Ashvir Singh Johal said he was disappointed not to win Saturday’s game against Yeovil Town at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

The teams drew 0-0 in a match where the Shrimps had the better of proceedings against the Glovers for long periods.

However, they struggled to break down a stubborn defence and – in the end – had keeper Jamal Blackman to thank for a 79th-minute penalty save from Tahvon Campbell that ensured a share of the spoils.

Having seen his side make it four points at home in five days, the Morecambe manager said: “I thought we had chances to score in the first half which we didn’t take.

Shrimps return to winning ways

“I think it would have been a very different game if we had because they would have had to open up and that would have led to more chances, I am sure.

“They were very well organised and didn’t give us much space at all to attack

“For 75 minutes we were very good, but we lost a bit of control for the last part of the match and I was disappointed how we ended the match in terms of our intensity.

“They went deeper and we struggled to break them down, and they had a few more opportunities and we were grateful to Jamal for a penalty save.

“In the end it was a point and another clean sheet and, although it is not what we wanted from the match, it was another point in the right direction.”
