The Shrimps welcome Preston to the Globe Arena for their third pre-season friendly, following on from the wins against Bamber Bridge and Lancaster City.

It also offers them a reunion with Tom Barkhuizen, who swapped Morecambe for Deepdale last season, as well as a first meeting with new North End boss Alex Neil.

“It’ll be great to see Tom again,” Bentley said.

“We saw he had great ability and I’m really pleased for him that he’s doing the business at Championship level.

“Obviously they have a new manager as well who will have his own idea of the way he wants to play.

“We knew the former staff, Simon Grayson and Glynn Snodin, really well so it’ll be nice to meet Alex for the first time and hopefully we can establish a good relationship.”
