Goals from Adam Phillips, Toumani Diagouraga and John O’Sullivan made it 10 games unbeaten at home and lifted the Shrimps into sixth place in League Two

The visitors struck the woodwork twice and had the better chances before Phillips broke the deadlock with half-time looming.

Morecambe then grabbed the initiative when, in a three-minute period, Diagouraga made it 2-0 and the visitors had Harry Pell sent off after an altercation with Ryan Cooney.

O’Sullivan then completed the scoring late on to make it a good day’s work for Adams’ players.

“It was another good victory for us,” the manager said afterwards.

“We have a talented group of players who are mentally strong; we came up against a team who, last week, drew against the league leaders and have a lot of talented players.

“It extends our unbeaten run at home and continues our move up the league as well.”

The wet and cold weather during the week meant the two sides had to deal with a less than perfect playing surface at the Mazuma Stadium.

However, all three of Morecambe’s goals came as the result of some excellent passing play from the Shrimps.

Adams said: “It was a really good goal from Adam Phillips, he’s one that can create assists and score goals, and he’s done that today.

“The second was a really good bit of football down our left-hand side, a good interchange, one-twos and a great ball for Toums to finish.

“Likewise, our third goal was well worked. We got ourselves into a wide position, a cutback, and John O’Sullivan finished.

“We’re delighted with the win. Three goals and we could have scored more.”
