The Shrimps can enhance their promotion hopes if they down the table-toppers, having beaten the previous leaders, Cheltenham Town last weekend.

With nine games of the season remaining, Adams’ players sit sixth in the table but are only a point off the automatic promotion spots and five adrift of Cambridge – and with a game in hand.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Adams said of today’s game.

“We had an excellent result last week against Cheltenham, who were top of the league, but we play the team who are now top.

“At this stage of the season, they are all difficult games. It doesn’t matter if it’s a side at the top or at the bottom, you see that by the results on a weekly basis.

“Everyone can beat everyone but we’ve shown this season we are capable of beating the teams at the top.”

Cambridge were 5-0 winners at the Mazuma Stadium when the two sides met in September.

Any thoughts of revenge are secondary with the Shrimps’ aim being to maintain their promotion bid.

Adams said: “There are three points at stake and a win would take us within two points of Cambridge with a game in hand.

“That’s what we’re trying to do, we’re just trying to catch the league leaders and take it from there.”

Harry Davis will be available for the Shrimps after recovering from an eye injury sustained against Cheltenham, while Nat Knight-Percival returns from suspension.

Alex Kenyon, Brad Lyons, A-Jay Leitch-Smith and Jordan Slew are all injured, while Yann Songo’o sits out the penultimate game of his suspension.
