The Shrimps go into the game on the back of consecutive draws at Stevenage and Bolton Wanderers.

They come up against a Scunthorpe side who had recorded three consecutive wins to end January.

They have not completed a game since, however, with last Saturday’s match against Oldham Athletic postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Then, in midweek, their meeting with Bradford City was abandoned after half-an-hour because of heavy snow.

Adams said: “In terms of preparing for Scunthorpe, we’ll go off the games before that. We have also watched the 30 minutes from the other night as well.

“To get half-an-hour into the game, there was nothing the ref could do – he had to call the game off.”

The three wins last month mean Scunthorpe have climbed to 17th in League Two.

The congested nature of the division means a run of positive results can improve a team’s position no end.

Adams said: “It’s a crazy league, you look at the way Tranmere Rovers and Mansfield Town have both climbed.

“If you put a run together you can propel yourselves up the table and that’s what Scunthorpe have done.”

Tomorrow’s game is also the first for which midfielder Yann Songo’o is available after his FA charge for allegedly directing a homophobic insult to a Tranmere player last month.

Songo’o picked up a two-match ban for his red card in that game and, when asked if he was under consideration for a return, Adams said: “All I would say is that he’s available for Saturday.”
