Adams said: “It was a fantastic victory for us, probably one of our best performances of the season.

“We could have won at least seven or eight, it was so comprehensive. We had shots at goal, hit the post and shots past the post.

“Cole Stockton is a fantastic striker who is getting better and better every week, creating chances not just for himself but other people.

“I thought the front three were fantastic. (Jordan) Slew made two, Carlos got two and Cole Stockton scored one and made another.

“Over the 90 minutes we are just disappointed we haven’t put them to bed earlier with the chances we created, but it was a fantastic display from the team.

“Crawley have played really well. We had to be on it at times, they have a number of really good players in their side.

“We’re delighted to get the three points. We’re on the 52 mark, have 15 wins and we have 14 games to go.”

Adams had made five changes to the side beaten at Mansfield Town the previous weekend.

One of those brought in, Brad Lyons, was stretchered off just past the half-hour after a promising display.

“He hurt his knee,” Adams said of the Blackburn Rovers loanee.

“He’s going to have a scan tomorrow morning, he was in a lot of pain.

“We're disappointed because he started very well and got himself into good areas. It’s one we’ll have to assess.”
