Morecambe boss acknowledges a lack of quality in their defeat at Mansfield Town
Derek Adams felt Morecambe’s weekend defeat at Mansfield Town wasn’t a game that would live long in the memory.
The Shrimps stayed in the League Two play-off places despite losing 1-0 thanks to Jordan Bowery’s first-half goal.
They had sought to make it three wins in a row following the victories against Barrow AFC and Salford City.
Speaking to the club website afterwards, Adams said: “I think it wasn’t a great afternoon for us because the quality from both teams wasn’t great.
“We didn’t start very well. Mansfield had a lot of corners, we dealt well with them, then we don’t deal well with a cross into the box and the striker gets ahead and scores.
“That was their only shot on target, probably all afternoon. We didn’t have any on target.
“That’s not like us but there’s probably a lot of things we could look at that caused us the problems.
“The pitch wasn’t great for both sides, the football on show was very poor.
“It was a lot of second balls, a lot of balls in the air, not a lot of chances created.”
