The 23-year-old began his career at Coleraine before joining Blackburn on loan in August 2018.

The Northern Irishman made the move permanent the following January and has since enjoyed a loan spell with St Mirren.

“Brad’s a central midfielder, a box-to-box player who has done really well for Blackburn’s Under-23s,” Adams said.

“He’s scored a few goals for them, he was on the bench the other night for the first team and we’re delighted to have him for the rest of the season.

“He played in the top flight in Scotland the season before last, so that gives him extra experience.”

For his part, Lyons is looking forward to working with his new team-mates and helping them for the rest of the League Two season.

“I feel privileged to be here,” Lyons told the club website.

“Morecambe’s a good club that’s on the up and fighting for a place in the play-offs at the minute, so I can’t wait to get started.

“Hopefully I can do well, help the club and maybe put myself in the spotlight.

“I know League Two is a very competitive league. I’ve watched loads of games at this level and it’s going to be physical.

“There are a lot of good players within the league so I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Lyons could only be the first piece of January business done by Adams, who admitted he has scope for further signings.

He said: “We’ve still got space for other players to add to the squad.

“We have got 20 players over the age of 21, so we can take in two more over 21 or players younger than 21 according to the EFL protocols.”
