Magpies still have leaders Fylde in their sights

The Magpies are currently a long way behind runaway leaders AFC Fylde, who have opened up a 10-point gap  between themselves and  second-placed Salford City.

However, with 11 games of the season still left to play, Teague believes there is still time for the Coasters to be reeled in.

Matt Jansen’s men are currently in fourth spot in the table – just a point behind Salford.

Teague accepts that it will take a remarkable run by Chorley – or any team for that matter – to pip Fylde to the title, but he and his team-mates will keep fighting over the remainder of the season.

“I wouldn’t say Fylde are out of sight and until it’s mathematically impossible, we will keep chasing them,” Teague said.

“They are obviously in a great position, but we will keep going until somebody tells us they are no longer catchable.”

While Chorley still have designs on catching Fylde, their main focus is ensuring they secure a play-off position. Barely out of the top five all season, the Magpies will be looking to make sure they keep the chasing pack at arm’s length.

As the league table currently stands, every team as far down as Gloucester City in 11th will still harbour ambitions of forcing their way into the play-offs.

One team who are still very much in the play-off reckoning is Stockport County, who Chorley travel to this weekend.

The Hatters, who have former Magpies Mark Ross and Courtney Meppen- Walter in their squad are just one place outside the top five – four points behind the men from Victory Park.

“It’s a big game this weekend,” said Teague. “If Stockport win then that puts them just a point behind us but if we can get the three points, we will go seven clear of them, which puts us a little bit out of sight.

“We will prepare well and look forward to the game.

“Edgeley Park is a nice ground to go to.

“We went there last season and won 3-1. Every time we go there, we do quite well. They will have a big crowd behind the, but I am sure there will be a few Chorley fans there too. They beat us 1-0 earlier in the season with a sloppy goal  that we conceded from their goal-kick.

“We know how they are  going to play, they will be  direct so we have got go there and win the battle first.”

Elsewhere in the  division, Fylde travel to Harrogate Town. New signing David Morgan, who has arrived from Nuneaton from a five-figure fee, looks set to go straight into the squad for the trip to Yorkshire.

In the National League, Southport are away to  Maidstone United.
