Lancaster City lack of goals is beginning to concern boss Mark Fell.

The Dolly Blues have performed well in the early season games in the NPL premier Division.

But just one goal in four games means they are yet to register a win and have picked up three points.

Charlie Bailey’s opening day strike in the 1-1 draw against Nantwich Town at Giant Axe is all City have to show for their efforts in the final third of the pitch.

Since then they have had two 0-0 draws against Marine and Tuesday night’s home clash against Radcliffe, while on Saturday a late penalty condemned them to a 1-0 loss at Stalybridge Celtic.

Fell has been pleased on the whole with the way team have performed but is keen to see them start making their superiority count in front of goal.

"It’s becoming an issue – there is no doubt about that,” said Fell.

"You can laugh about it but it’s not funny.

"Ultimately, we are sat on the points that we are because we are not converting chances.

"What we did do on Tuesday is create good chances, we smothered them, we kept them in – we did everything that I asked them to do.

"I think second half, we probably just run out of steam and they came on to us a little bit but even then, we’ve been fairly comfortable and had a couple of chances towards the end ourselves.

"They are a good side, they will finish at least top half. They are well resourced and will finish but I think if you look on balance of play, if we had of nicked it, we would have been full value for the win.

"We have to start putting the ball in the back of the net.”

The Dolly Blues will now prepare for a busy weekend where they face two fixtures in the space of three days.

On Saturday, they head to Gainsborough Trinity before hosting Atherton Collieries on bank holiday Monday.

"We have got lots of positive to take forward, especially from the first half,” he said.

"We will work out what we are doing at training tonight because we have got to get the lads in the best possible condition for the trip to Gainsborough.

"We will go there believing that we can win. At some point, things will drop and click for us and somebody will get beaten heavily by us.

"I have no doubt about that and the sooner it happens, the better.”
