The Shrimps head to Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night having all but secured their League 2 safety with a thrilling 4-2 win over Barnet on Saturday.

It saw Bentley’s side move 14 points clear of the bottom two with just their second victory in 14 games.

The Daggers on the other hand are rooted to the bottom of the table some 13 points away from safety.

The Shrimps boss said: “We’ve tried to take the shackles off anyway.

“I think we’ve played some okay stuff.

“It’s easy for people to look at results and say it’s not good enough but I think performances in 2016 have been in the main okay.

“We’ve had unbelievable bad luck and we’re not far away.

“I’ve got belief in the group. We’ve got good players and we want them to go and express themselves.

“Certainly that’s what we can do between now and the end of the season.

“We’re not mathematically safe but it will take an unbelievable turn around.

“I’m not thinking of losing the last seven games. I want to win all seven and we’ll keep going right to that final whistle.”

The win over Barnet was one where Bentley felt his side finally got what they deserved.

He said: “Thankfully we got that win on Saturday which was what we deserved.

“I’ve been a little bit miffed with some of the things that have gone against us this season. I don’t think we’ve got what our performances have deserved.

“It was a good win at a good time and gives the lads the shot in the arm they’ve craved.

“Now we can go to Dagenham and win again because we want to finish the season strongly.”

Chris Doyle could return to the squad after missing Saturday’s game through illness while Adam Dugdale is still struggling with a foot problem.
