"It’s still a celebration of what we managed to achieve over the summer": Shrimps Trust takes its place at the FSA Awards
Morecambe’s official supporters’ group still had a feeling of satisfaction even if success at last week’s Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) Awards proved elusive.
The Shrimps Trust was one of four nominees in the Non-League Award category for last Monday’s ceremony at Nobu in London’s Portman Square.

It was shortlisted alongside FA Cup Factfile, @NonLeagueVolunteers and the eventual winners, Non-League Day, following the work undertaken over the summer when the Shrimps’ very future came under threat amid the club’s ownership crisis.
Though the Trust might have come away without a prize to show for its efforts, spokesman Joel Shooter maintained that being shortlisted was still something to be proud of.

He said: “It was a fantastic night and, while people might think it was a shame that the Trust didn’t win, it was good to be nominated.
“People might think it would have been nice to be recognised for some pioneering work rather than saving the club, but it’s still a celebration of what we managed to achieve over the summer and it was great we had that recognition.”
Among the award winners were Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Alessia Russo, who were named as the men’s and women’s player of the year respectively.
Other winners included Lucy Ward, who was named as TV/radio pundit of the year, while Bristol City claimed the supporter engagement award.
FSA chairman Tom Greatrex added: “On and off the pitch we are proud to celebrate the best that football has to offer.
“The FSA Awards also highlight work across the pyramid at supporters’ groups, clubs and in the media that might otherwise go unnoticed.
“There is so much good work going on out there and it’s a fantastic achievement to win or even be shortlisted.”
Elsewhere, Morecambe’s weekend defeat against Boston United at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium saw the club give a debut to its new third shirt for the 2025/26 season.
The Terrace-manufactured shirt was unveiled last Wednesday, when it went online, before being sold in the club store the following day.
It features ‘This Bay Of Ours’ added sleeve cuff detailing, in addition to a centrally-positioned solo Shrimp crest.
The shirt is priced at £44 for adults and £35 for youths.
