Irish scouting trip for PNE boss
Preston North End could be ready to cast their recruitment net in Ireland again after Simon Grayson watched a game in Dublin on Friday night.
Grayson and Peter Ridsdale - advisor to PNE owner Trevor Hemmings - watched St Patrick Athletic's clash with Cork City at Richmond Park.
It is thought that Cork striker Sean McGuire was the player they were watching, Cork winning 3-0.
Luton-born McGuire, who has played for West Ham United and Accrington Stanley, has scored eight goals for Cork since the start of the League of the Ireland season in February.
North End were linked with him last year at the time they were scouting Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan.
McGuire started his career with Waterford United in Ireland, then in 2013 signed for West Ham.
He had loans with Sligo Rovers and Accrington while at West Ham, before joining Dundalk in 2015.
Last season, McGuire moved to Cork, scoring their winner against Dundalk in the Irish Cup final in November.
Preston have a free weekend, with them back in action on Monday night against Newcastle United at St James' Park.
