Anders Lindegaard was PNE's man of the match against Huddersfield

The Dane was named man of the match in PNE’s 2-1 win over Huddersfield, having made five one-on-one saves.

Deep into stoppage time, he also made a block on the line from Terriers midfielder Jonathan Hogg.

That performance followed on from keeping a clean sheet in his debut at Derby.

Although he did not have a shot to save in the Pride Park clash, Lindegaard commanded his box effectively.

North End manager Simon Grayson told the Evening Post: “We were grateful to Anders on Saturday for some good saves.

“We have been fortunate with the goalkeepers we have had and Anders has continued that trend.

“He is a fantastic keeper, a fantastic person and a very good trainer during the week.

“Anders made the saves in the Huddersfield game look simple, his positioning was excellent.

“He is a calming influence back there and commands his box well.

“We would prefer him to have quieter games like the one he had at Derby last week, rather than having to make all those saves on Saturday.

“The more he trains and plays with us, the better it will be for us.

“Our defenders are learning about him and Anders is getting to know them.

“He has not played a lot of first-team football in the last couple of seasons, so a run of games will do him good.”

Lindegaard’s opening two appearances for North End is the first time he has played back-to-back first-team games for more than three years.

He played five matches in a row for Manchester United in November and early December 2012.

Last summer, Lindegaard moved from United to West Bromwich in search of more regular football.

But after only playing once in the Capital One Cup for Albion this season, he jumped at North End’s offer to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

He is the fifth keeper used in the first-team this term, following on from Jordan Pickford, Sam Johnstone, Chris Kirkland and Matt Hudson.

Lindegaard has a clear midweek of training ahead of him before PNE go to Molineux on Saturday to play 11th-placed Wolves.

Meanwhile, North End’s Under-18s are in action at Deepdale tomorrow night.

They face Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup Youth Cup (7pm).

The reward on offer to the winners is a quarter-final clash with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

North End have won away at Carlisle and Exeter City in previous rounds.

Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions, with season ticket holders of both clubs getting free entry – the Sir Tom Finney Stand (south) will be open.
