Hide AdBrig keeper Danny Roccia was then called to action to deny a fierce drive from Dylan Vassello, before Callum King-Harmes saw a header at the other end saved acrobatically by Dan Hanford.
Hanford could do nothing about the opening goal on 41 minutes, a ricochet falling into the path of Wisdom, who made no mistake in taking a touch and slotting the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Carver then equalised for Southport on the stroke of half-time, meeting a cross from the right with a bullet header past Roccia.
There was a boost on the fitness front for Brig in the second half, Richie Allen returning to the pitch as a substitute following a couple of weeks out of action.

Hide AdAnd Jamie Milligan’s men almost restored their advantage within the opening minute of the half, Matt Dudley narrowly failing to connect with a long ball forward from kick off.
Southport then took the lead on 49 minutes, the evening’s triallist finding space at the far post to tap home a driven cross.
Brig then piled on the pressure as the half wore on, Allen striking an effort into the side netting before firing in a low drive that was stopped cleanly by Hanford.
It was Southport, however, who would go on to extend their advantage, the triallist scoring a good solo goal as he raced through and slotted the ball beyond Roccia in the 83rd minute.
