He was appointed on October 19 in succession to the sacked Uwe Rosler. Former Preston winger Paul Raynor, who scored for PNE in the 1994 play-off final against Wycombe at Wembley, is Evans’ No.2. Evans, 53, previously managed Boston United, Crawley and Rotherham. Speculation surrounds Evans’ long-term future at Elland Road, bearing in mind Cellino’s reputation.

Wiltshire referee Brendan Malone will take charge of a game at Deepdale for the first time on Saturday. He was in the middle for PNE’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff in February. He has refereed 30 games this season, six of them at this level of the game.
