He joins midfielder Joe Booth and defender Dave Hankin at the Sir Tom Finney stadium, after the pair left Kellamergh Park at the end of last season.

Barnes, who made more than 250 appearances for Fylde, started his career with Manchester United before having brief stints with Northwich Victoria, Southport and FC Halifax Town.

Speaking about the move, Bamber Bridge boss Neil Crowe, said: “It shows that we are moving in the right direction.

“Three years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to sign somebody like Michael Barnes.

“I’m delighted with the signing as I am also pleased with Joe Booth and Dave Hankin joining the club.

“The three signings have done their homework, they’ve seen what we are about and they like it.

“This season will be tough but I expect us to be a competitive team.”
