The Magpies, who hail from the National league North, will travel to London Road for the tie which will take place on the weekend of November 27 to 30.

Jamie Vermiglio's men arguably caused the shock of the first round when they came from 2-0 behind to beat 2013 winners Wigan Athletic 3-2 after extra time at the DW Stadium.

Goals from Elliot Newby, Harry Cardwell and Connor Hall sealed a remarkable turnaround on Sunday.

Posh are the highest ranked team left in the draw, they currently top League One having won eight of their opening 11 league games.

They defeated Oxford United 2-1 in the first round on Saturday.

It is the fourth successive year that the Magpies won through to the first round proper, but this is the first time in that sequence where they have gone on to the second round.

In 2017, they were beaten by Lancashire neighbours Fleetwood Town and a year later exited at the hands of Doncaster Rovers after a replay.

Last season they were beaten by Mansfield Town in the first round at Field Mill.
