Chorley travel to Telford United on opening day of new season

Andy Preece’s first competitive match in charge of Chorley will be an away trip to AFC Telford United.

The former Stockport County and Crystal Palace striker took over from Jamie Vermiglio, who left to take over Buxton at the end of last season, last month.

Having served as Vermiglio’s assistant at Victory Park, Preece will be hoping to build on last season which saw Chorley reach the play-offs before losing to York City in the semi-final eliminator.

The first game of the National League North season will take place on Saturday, August 6, with the Magpies playing in front of their own supporters a week later where Darlington will be the visitors.

Four days later, Chorley are back in action at Victory Park when they entertain Blyth Spartans.

Preece will go head-to-head against Vermiglio when Chorley travel to Buxton on Saturday, November 5.

The former Magpies boss will go back to his former club on Saturday, February 25.

The Christmas period sees two Lancashire hotpot derbies against AFC Fylde. The Coasters are on home territory on Boxing Day before heading to Chorley on New Year’s Day.

Over the Easter weekend, Chorley will travel to Chester on Good Friday before hosting Leamington on Easter Monday.

The final game of the season sees Chorley travel to one of Preece’s former clubs Gloucester City on Saturday, August 29.
