Since then, they have lost twice at Deepdale in successive seasons. In 2019 they were surprisingly beaten by Doncaster Rovers 3-1 and the last campaign saw them lose 4-2 to Norwich City, who were then of the Premier League.

Chorley's reward for their shock victory over League One promotion hopefuls Peterborough United at the weekend is a mouth-watering home tie against Derby County, who are currently managed by former England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, at Victory Park.

"They are a good Championship side and coming up against Wayne Rooney as well," said boss Jamie Vermiglio.

"Derby are bottom of the Championship, and they may not fancy coming to our place - we've got a chance."

The Magpies have enjoyed an epic run in the competition so far, beating Gateshead and York City in two qualifying rounds before dumping out 2013 cup winners Wigan Athletic 3-2 in the first round.

Despite going behind early, the National League North side came back to win 2-1. It is the first time in the club's history that they have reached this stage of the competition.
