The hosts dominated the first period, with Olly Scott and Ben Stephens both hitting the bar early on, before Stephens saw a second long-range effort brilliantly kept out by Matt Urwin.
The Magpies’ only counter was a 25-yard strike from Jon Ustabaşı that home goalkeeper Paul Jones did well to tip over.

Hide AdDespite being under constant pressure, Andy Preece’s side looked to have weathered the storm.
That was until the 45th minute when Josh Barrett went left to right in midfield before dinking a cross over for Jordan Ponticelli to head home. Down, but not out, the Magpies created more openings in the second half.
The best fell to Joe Nolan, who was put through on goal by Connor Hall, only for Jones to stand big and repel the midfielder’s shot.
Hall then saw an effort deflected over by a combination of Jones and centre-back Adam Crowther, before the latter finished the game as a contest.
