Chorley boss Vermiglio: We want Hine back but it is complex

Chorley boss Jamie Vermiglio says Josh Hine's return to Victory Park is not a done deal just yet despite both parties being eager for a reunion.

Hine left Chorley for Salford City in the summer of 2016, but he has been back with the Magpies this summer on trial in the opening games of pre-season.

Hine, 27, featured for Chorley in the 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers’ U23 side at AFC Darwen on Saturday.

Though Vermiglio, who took over as manager from Matt Jansen at Victory Park on the eve of pre-season, says that securing the services of the attacker again is a complicated matter.

Hine enjoyed a three-year spell at Chorley and has just left their National League North rivals Southport.

And Vermiglio says the big complication is due to holiday commitments that will see the attacker miss the start of the season when Chorley host York City on August 4.

However, the 35-year-old says both parties are working to find a way to come to an arrangement, as former Morecambe man Chris Doyle also returned to the Magpies fold on trial against Blackburn.

Now as they prepare to head to Trafford, with more trialists given a chance, Vermiglio explained the Hine situation: “Me and Josh have had a chat. I want him to come back but it is a bit tricky at the moment.

“His missus is a teacher and he goes away on holiday and he would miss the first few games of the season which will put him back a little bit.

“He wants to be here, we want him to be here, it is just the timing of that holiday and a couple of other little things that are not quite right yet for us both to commit to each other.

“We have had a good chat and I’m sure he will come back if he is in good condition and give all the other lads a good run.”
