Chorley 1 Bury 2: Magpies fail to shake off Bury in pre-season test
Chorley were edged out by Bury in an entertaining pre-season encounter at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium.
Andy Preece's side made a bright start with a strong first-half XI, which included Jack Hazlehurst, and deservedly took the lead after 11 minutes.

A trialist, leading the line for the Magpies, was brought down inside the penalty area following a positive attacking move, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.
Billy Whitehouse stepped up confidently and sent Bury goalkeeper Mitch Allen the wrong way, calmly finding the bottom corner to hand Chorley an early advantage.
As is customary during pre-season, Preece changed almost his entire XI at the interval, giving valuable minutes to a youthful second-half side featuring several academy prospects and more trialists.
The visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse shortly after the restart to draw level. former Magpie, Tom Carr, reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the area before poking beyond Kier Barry to make it 1-1.
Bury completed their comeback in the 74th minute when Leo Graham's corner found Oscar Threlkeld, who showed excellent technique to guide a deft flick on the volley into the bottom corner, leaving the trialist in goal with no chance.
Chorley continued to battle until the final whistle but were unable to find a way back into the contest as the visitors claimed victory.
The Magpies now turn their attention to another stern test on Wednesday evening, when Preston North End make the short journey over to Victory Park as preparations for the new campaign continue.
