Bamber Bridge sweat on fitness of key duo ahead of Trinity test

Bamber Bridge boss Jamie Milligan will check on the fitness of two key men ahead of this weekend’s crucial play-off clash against Gainsborough Trinity.

Brig travel to The Northholme looking to cut the gap between themselves and Boro in the NPL Premier Division.

The hosts occupy the last remaining spot in the play-offs – two places above Milligan’s men who can move to within two points of the top-five with victory this weekend.

Brig are currently on a four-match winless run, albeit three of those games have ended in draws.

In fact, their last defeat came against Trinity last month – a 3-1 defeat at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Milligan is hopeful he will be able to call upon leading goalscorer Ewan Bange and defender Nathanial Knight-Percival.

They both missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Whitby Town which was played in treacherous playing conditions

"Bangey’s been a big miss and Nat too,” said Milligan. “Bangey came off against Rushall and Nat missed last weekend. I think the last game we had no centre halves.

"To be fair, the game last week should never have gone ahead. If that’s a Sunday League pitch, the game gets called off.

"I think because they had travelled so far, the referee was a bit reluctant to call it off.

"Give us a half-decent pitch, I think we batter them Saturday. It was a bit of a leveller, the ball was getting held up in puddles.

“I am hopeful both Nat and Bangey will be back this weekend.

"Gainsborough are a good side. We had so many chances against them when we played them before but we just couldn’t score.

"It should be a good game – two good teams – we’ll have a real good go.”
