It was the first time Brig had welcomed a crowd in five months, with stage one of an FA plan being followed to allow a maximum capacity of 300 fans to attend the game, which was a sell-out. Debutant Callum King-Harmes scored his first goal for Brig, converting a second-half penalty.

Both teams started brightly but it was Chorley who took the lead, Elliot Newby finding space on the edge of the box and placing the ball beyond Danny Roccia on eight minutes.

George Thomason worked a good opening for Brig before firing his effort at Matt Urwin in the Chorley goal, but the visitors made it two when Lewis Reilly was first to the rebound after a good initial save from Roccia.

Newby then added his second goal of the game shortly before half-time to give the Magpies a three-goal advantage at the break.

Brig had the first chance of the second half, Matt Dudley beating the offside trap and forcing a strong save from Urwin.

Chorley then added a fourth when the first of two substitutes netted, Sean Miller curling into the top corner from range.

Jamie Vermiglio’s men then won a penalty on 55 minutes, Reilly stepping up and putting the ball beyond Roccia’s outstretched glove.

Macauley Wilson then came close for Brig on 69 minutes when he broke forward, Urwin securing the ball with another good save.

Brig then won a penalty of their own eight minutes later, King-Harmes the player to convert the penalty for his first goal for the club.

Chorley substitute Sope Awe notched the final goal of the game with a late tap-in, with the Magpies emerging as 6-1 winners at full-time.
