The club had hoped for a boost in attendance with Preston North End being away to Wolves.

But a crowd of just 238 saw Jamie Milligan give Brig the perfect start, scoring from the spot after nine minutes.

It was to be the high water mark, though.

Robert Hopley (20) put Albion level and Thomas Schofield (33) gave the visitors the lead before half-time.

And 14 minutes from the end, Joe Newton made it 3-1, before Hopley (84) scored his second of the afternoon to complete Brig’s misery.

Elsewhere in the division, Lancaster City played out a goalless draw at Farsley Celtic.

Clitheroe won 3-1 at Scarborough Athletic.

Two goals in as many minutes before the break from Sefton Gonzales and Ross Dent put Clitheroe in the box seat, though an own goal from James Heywood on the stroke of half-time gave Boro hope.

But Gonzales (65) got his second and Clitheroe’s third.

Kendal were hammered 6-1 at Spennymoor Town.

Nathan Fisher scored four for the hosts, Kallum Griffiths and Shane Henry also on target.

Aaron Helliwell got Kendal’s consolation goal.

Burscough went down 1-0 at Trafford, Mitchell Bryant (62) on the mark for the Mancunians.
