10 things you might not know about Bailey Wright

If selected, the 23-year-old will have the job of keeping Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney in check as Roy Hodgson’s men play their penultimate warm-up game ahead of Euro 2016. Here are 10 things you might not know about Wright:

1 Wright’s international debut for Australia came on English soil in September 2014 – he scored in the Socceroos’ 3-2 firiendly win over Saudi Arabia at Fulham’s Craven Cottage ground.

2 He is North End’s current longest-serving player – he joined the club as a teenager in 2009.

3 When Wright was waiting to be granted a visa in order to sign for Preston, he played a couple of games for the PNE Fans’ team to stay fit.

4 Although a proud Aussie, there is some British Bulldog spirit in the Wright household – he has a pet bulldog called Dennis.

5 Wright was voted PNE’s Community Player of the Year earlier this month for the work he does for charity and visits made to local schools and events.

6 His Preston first-team debut came in a 5-0 win at Stockport in the League Cup in August 2010.

7 Four years ago, Wright was briefly transfer-listed by former PNE boss Graham Westley before there was a U-turn.

8 Wright was in the Australia squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but did not get on the pitch.

9 He has the No.8 squad number in the Aussie 
pool.
