The South African overseas star hit a superb unbeaten century as the visitors cantered to a 94-run win.

That result kept them firmly in the picture at the top end of the Moore and Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division.

Van Duyker smacked 13 fours and two sixes as Euxton closed on 252-6. He was ably assisted by Mark Winrow, who struck 48. Host skipper Ashley Billington took 3-32.

Van Duyker then showed his skills, taking 4-56, with the ball as Pen were all out for 158. Elliot Mackrael took 3-36 with Kriston Yearwood top scoring with 40.

Eccleston’s promotion bid took a hit at home to Preston.

A superb 85 from Imran Mehmood, including 12 fours and one six, helped the visitors post 176 all out.

Stewart White was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-17 off just 5.4 overs, while Thomas Wilkinson returned figures of 4-58.

In reply, the home side fell eight runs short of victory after being dismissed for 169.

Patel took 4-45 and Imran Jethva chipped in with three wickets – meaning Adam Norris’ half-century and Matthew Ashcroft’s score of 38 was to be in vain.

Croston are becoming increasingly cut adrift at the bottom of the table after suffering their 11th defeat of the season at Thornton Cleveleys.

The visitors batted first but could only muster 117 all out despite a number of their batsmen getting starts.

Adam Sexton (29), Joseph Barker (28) and Matthew Bromley (29) were all out in the late 20s as Joshua Rolinson took 4-17 and Daniel Howard chipped-in with 3-22.

In reply, the hosts cruised to victory for the loss of three wickets off 27 overs. Joshua Sackfield top scored with a fine half-century.

This weekend, Euxton travel north to Cumbria to take on Barrow, while Eccleston face second-placed Morecambe at Woodhill Lane. Croston host Great Eccleston.

In the Greater Manchester Cricket League Division Two A, Adlington were well beaten by Tottington St John’s by 85 runs. Four wickets from Saj Khan and three from James Pettitt saw Tottington on 207-8. Pettitt then hit 53 but Adlington were all out for 123.
