Clayton-le-Moors Harriers join the “Lets Lift the Curfew” campaign to champion safer spaces for women in sport.

Clayton-le-Moors Harriers are proud to announce their participation in “Lets Lift the Curfew”, a powerful, national campaign, launched by This Girl Can and England Athletics, and supported by Sport England.
The initiative aims to highlight the barriers many women face when exercising outdoors and to promote a safer, more supportive environment for women and girls to enjoy physical activity. Free from fear, judgement, or intimidation.
As part of their commitment to this mission, Clayton-le-Moors Harriers are inviting women of all abilities to join their inclusive Ladies’ Only Wednesday Run.
The group meets every Wednesday evening on the car park of Sycamore Farm, Burnley, gathering at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm start. The session features a supportive, steady-paced 5km run, aimed at encouraging participation, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community.

“No one gets left behind” is at the heart of our ethos. Whether you are new to running, returning after a break, or already clocking regular miles, you’ll find a warm welcome and a group ready to cheer you on. By taking part in “Lets Lift the Curfew,” our club hopes to empower more women to take up space, feel safe, and experience the physical and mental benefits of running together.
Run leader, Irene Roche said:
“We’re delighted to stand alongside This Girl Can, England Athletics, and Sport England in supporting this vital campaign. Every woman deserves to feel safe and confident when she runs. Our club is committed to being a place where that happens.”
Clayton-le-Moors Harriers encourage all women in the local area to come along, try a session, and be part of a movement that champions safety, solidarity, and empowerment through sport.
